Host, Linda Hopkins, Attorney at Law, IntelliWare International Inc.

Ms. Hopkins, principal of Intelliware International Inc., is an author of a standard text on intellectual property law regulations and laws applying to actions of the Federal Government. She has functioned in a number of public policy positions, including advisor to the Office of the President of the United States on the economic and political implications of existing and proposed technology programs in 1992-1993. Her role with the Department of Defense and U.S. Senate Armed Forces Committee focused on the political, economic and military implications of existing and proposed changes in government procurement regulations.

She has also advised the State of Minnesota as chair of the Working Group on Intellectual Property and Public Access under the Government Information Access Council from 1993 through 1996. In 1996 Ms. Hopkins served as advisor to the Government of Bulgaria on new statutory language for the Trademark and Design Patent rights. In 1995-1997, Ms. Hopkins was a featured speaker at a number of national and international conferences on intellectual property and licensing issues, including the national American Bar Association convention.

In 1998, Ms. Hopkins directed a study of the patent case court process for the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota. Her recommendations were presented to the American Intellectual Property Law Association. In 1999, Ms. Hopkins developed a national conference on the ethical, economic and political aspects of genetic research.
